The goal of the Barber Arts Program is two-fold. The first part is to provide 2,100 hours of education preparing College of Hair Design students to pass the Nebraska State Barber Board Exam and receive their license to practice Barber Arts in the state of Nebraska at an entry level. The second purpose is to help students develop up-to-the-minute marketable skills that will turn their dreams into realities. Students are taught technical hair design skills, as well as customer service and business skills.

Barber Arts DLP - A Continuation Top

Under Nebraska State law a person holding a Barber license will be credited 1000 hours towards the 2100 hour requirement for the Cosmetology Course. The benefits of this option are:

  1. Students have the opportunity to continue to develop skills while they wait to take the Barber State Exam.
  2. The Barber Arts DLP only requires approximately seven months additional training.
  3. It gives students excellent training and hands-on experience with women’s perming, coloring and styling.
  4. By having licenses in both Barbering and Cosmetology, a graduate’s resume stands out among others to prospective employers who readily recognize the value of the additional specialized training and potential for an increased client base.
