Admission Requirements & Procedures
Applicants are encouraged to visit the college with a parent, guardian or spouse.
Appointments are necessary, and should be made either in writing or by phone.
Prospective students should submit an application as early as possible to ensure
their choice of five start dates per year. Class sizes are limited.
Enrollment requirements include:
- Application for Admission
- Copy of High School Diploma (or copy of G.E.D. Certificate)
- Copy of Birth Certificate
- Deposit of $25.00
Applications received are reviewed promptly. Students will receive a letter of acceptance
as soon as possible. If a student is not accepted, the deposit of $25.00 will be
refunded. An entrance exam may be administered at the discretion of the admissions
officer. Applicants will be notified to schedule the signing of an enrollment agreement.
Applicants under the age of 19 will require the signature of a parent or guardian.
An enrollment fee of $125.00 is due at this time and will be applied toward the
total tuition.
Apartment facilities are limited. After an application for admission is submitted
to the school, an apartment deposit of $25.00 must also be submitted to officially
be on the reservation list. This apartment deposit will be fully refunded if the
student finds other accommodations at least six weeks prior to the start date.
Admission to the College of Hair Design is open to anyone with a High School diploma
or a Graduate Equivalency Degree (G.E.D.) certificate. An entrance exam may be given
at the discretion of the admissions officer.
Each prospective student will complete an application form provided by the College
of Hair Design and return it to the school with a deposit of $25.00. Applications
should be submitted two to six months in advanced of desired starting date to ensure
a reservation in the class of your choice. The deposit will be applied to tuition
and is refundable if the applicant is not accepted. A personal interview with our
admissions officer, along with a tour of the school, is also a part of the enrollment
process.
Acceptance to the school is based on personality, and the desire and ability to
benefit from training. The college is open to individuals of any age with sincere
desire to be trained for a career as a hair stylist. No one will be discriminated
against on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, age or sex.
An orientation meeting will be held prior to the starting date. At this time, students
are required to furnish a copy of their high school diploma (or G.E.D. certificate)
and a copy of their birth certificate. Students are not allowed to begin school
without these documents on file.
Financial Assistance
Listed below are the Federal Student Financial Aid Programs available to students
attending College of Hair Design:
- Federal Pell Grant
- Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (SEOG)
- Federal Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS)
- Family Federal Education Loan Program (FFEL)
- FFEL Stafford Loan (FFSL)
You may determine your eligibility for the above programs by using the FREE APPLICATION
FOR FEDERAL STUDENT AID. This form can be obtained from your high school counselor
or from our office.
Federal Stafford student Loans are low interest loans made to students and often
pay for the majority of a students tuition. Repayment begins six (6) months after
a student graduates or leaves the program. The first disbursement of this loan will
be made 30 days after the borrower begins school.
Federal Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS) are low interest loans made
to parents to help pay for their child's educational expenses.
State Student Aid
Students eligible for Federal Pell Grants may receive small amounts from the State
Scholarship Assistance Program (SSAP) and the Scholarship Assistance Program (SAP).
Help for some students can be found from Vocational Rehabilitation, and Veterans
Administration.
