As our name indicates, we are a "college of hair design", offering all kinds of salon services for men, women & children. The college was started in 1960 as a barber college by the late Albert D. Howard. In 1975 Mr. Howard began offering cosmetology training in addition to the barber training. The college is still owned by the Howard family under the direction of Mrs. Alyce Howard and her son Greg Howard.

Our students have 350 hours of training before they begin performing any services on you, our client. There are 3 levels of students, junior, senior, and advanced senior. Students advance to senior and advanced senior as their skills and speed improve while they progress towards graduation.

There are licensed instructors present to supervise and monitor the students. Our instructors aid students first in the consultation (to determine your exact needs and desires) and throughout your entire service.

We use a variety of professional haircare products including Aquage, American Crew, Amplify, Back To Basics, Bed Head, Goldwell, Nexxus, Nioxin, Paul Mitchell, Redken, and SEXY HAIR. From Matrix we offer Biolage, Curl.life, Sleek.look and TRIX. Our color lines include Goldwell, Matrix, Paul Mitchell & Redken. For our skin care and make-up lines we use Bedhead and Bioelements.

We sell all the products above, the same ones we use! At CHD we also have a haircare outlet providing you with the products to help you maintain your hair design at its best!
